A native of Brooklyn New York, new Australian Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Charles Balvo has said the task of any Apostolic Nuncio is to be the eyes, ears and hands of the Holy Father,
“An extension of the Holy Father’s Ministry, because the Holy Father has his concern for the Church, all aspects of its life.”
Archbishop Balvo presented his credentials to the Governor-General of Australia on Friday 1 April.
Speaking to parishioners at the Ellenbrook Parish St Helena’s Church, Archbishop Costelloe reflected on the parable of the prodigal son from Luke’s gospel.
Praying before a statue of Mary that was loaned by the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima at San Vittoriano on the outskirts of Rome, Pope Francis pleaded with Mary to “accept this act that we carry out with confidence and love. Grant that war may end, and peace spread throughout the world.”
