Opened 30 March 1974 by then Archbishop Launcelot Goody, the former church of St Francis of Assisi Maida Val Parish was no longer large enough to accommodate all the parishioners.
This marks the first time such recognition has been bestowed upon an Australian organisation (since the awards began in 2005), highlighting the Archdiocese’s strong commitment to safeguarding.
On what was one of the hottest weekends of Perth’s summer – the 17 and 18 February – thirteen Indonesian Australian married Catholic couples and a Perth based Indonesian Australian Catholic priest enjoyed a weekend of formation.
Organised by the Vocations Office and Committee, the event forms part of the Archdiocese’s commitment to supporting the wellbeing of seminarians through initiatives that foster connections with the Catholic and wider community and support their personal and social development.
Speaking about the 50th anniversary of Greenwood’s All Saints Church, Parish Priest Fr Elver Delicano said one undeniable truth remains – the divine grace that sustains us.
“It is God’s grace that has nurtured our faith, brought healing to the broken, and ignited a passion for service within us,” Fr Elver said.
Banksia Grove parishioners have recently celebrated the first anniversary of the opening of St John Paul II Church with the blessing and opening of a new presbytery, several statues and a rose garden.
The appointment of new Vocations Committee Members Adam Phillips and Catherine Nguyen recognises the need to support the Office’s ongoing work in advancing its Vocations promotions, partnerships and assistance for anyone discerning to answer God’s call to love.
