Perth Auxiliary Bishop Don Sproxton has last week Tuesday 7 February 2023 celebrated a milestone 70th birthday.

Bishop Sproxton was elected by Pope John Paul II to the episcopacy in December 2001 and ordained a bishop on 21 February 2002 at St Mary’s Cathedral.

The congregation of the Sisters of St John of God were honoured by the Western Australian Bishops, stakeholders, and peers who gathered on 14 October to celebrate the past 150 years of the Congregations presence which began in Wexford, Ireland on 7 October 1871.

The Sisters of Mercy in Western Australia celebrated several special occasions last month, commemorating several achievements which included 175 years of ministry in Western Australia, Mercy Day, and the 10th Anniversary of the Institute.
