Mercy Health Mont Clare celebrates seniors during dedicated week

One new resident at the popular Claremont aged care home, Mercy Place Mont Clare, is 75-year-old Charmaine Brown, who started life in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia back in 1947, after her father – a tropical disease pathologist working for the World Health Organisation – was transferred from British Borneo after World War II.

Hamersley resident Alan Williams and Kingsley local George Wakelin visit Mercy Place Edgewater every Thursday where they socialise with residents, accompany them on walks in the garden and help with various activities, including morning exercises.

A born and bred West Australian, Ivy Ballentine entered the world on 16 March 1919, joining the army during World War II and marrying future husband George in her 20’s. She celebrated her 103rd birthday this week.

100 candles lit for the woman who shared her many gifts

Mercy Place resident Enid Macoboy celebrated her 100th birthday on 2 March, with an afternoon tea with family and close friends at a grand daughter’s home, followed by a morning tea with Mercy Place staff. She was truly delighted with birthday wishes from the Queen, Prime Minister and others but, as suspected, her biggest smile was saved for the Papal Blessing from Pope Francis. By The Record.
