“He gazes on each one of us tonight – he looks deeply into our eyes and searches our hearts – and with love and hope he says to each of us, ‘Come, follow me, walk in my footsteps, do not be afraid, for I have called you by your name – you are mine.’” This was the message of Perth Archbishop Timothy Costelloe SDB to the people of the Archdiocese of Perth across the first major liturgies of Holy Week 2025.
Archbishop Costelloe marked the beginning of Holy Week with two important celebrations, inviting the congregation to commit to an active search for communion with Christ.
The Palm Sunday Mass was livestreamed to YouTube and Facebook supported by captions and AUSLAN interpretation, with more than 500 viewers tuning in.
As the Perth Catholic faithful reconvened for the 2021 Chrism Mass during Holy Week, Archbishop Timothy Costelloe SDB accentuated the indispensable verse of John 3:16 where God sacrificed Jesus for the salvation of humanity.
