In celebrating the 35th anniversary on Monday 14 September, the Applecross Parish Mary Mother of Sorrows Prayer Group looked back at the history of the group, how it was founded and why the name was chosen.
Held in conjunction with the Applecross Parish Modern Slavery Project, the Project has two aims: to raise awareness of modern slavery among parishioners and the local community and to mitigate the risk of modern slavery in the supply chains of the current suppliers used by the parish.
The faith formation and social education session at St Mary’s Cathedral saw 17 participants enjoy a morning tea while learning about the church response to modern slavery and what they could do as individuals to assist.
St Benedict’s Church celebrated its 70 years of rich history through a week of festivities and was encouraged by Perth Archbishop Timothy Costelloe SDB to look forward with hope of carrying out the Lord’s mission.
In anticipation of the 70th anniversary of Applecross Parish this weekend, Parish Priest Fr Nelson Po highlighted the strength and unity of the community, while emphasising the occasion as an opportunity to remember parish members of the past.
