Established in 1923 by then Perth Bishop Matthew Gibney, the parish of Palmyra has last month celebrated its 100th anniversary, with Archbishop Timothy Costelloe SDB encouraging parishioners to pray in remembrance and guidance for all those in the parish during the past 100 years who have strived to be faithful with mercy and compassion. Celebrating the 90th anniversary of Sacred Heart Church, Mundaring Parish, Perth Archbishop Timothy Costelloe SDB explained that a priestly people will be a group of people who are prepared and willing and doing their very best to offer themselves for the sake of others.
“We’re all called to do that,” Archbishop Costelloe said.
Speaking at the 50th anniversary of the Our Lady of the Rosary Church of Doubleview Parish, Perth Archbishop Timothy Costelloe SDB explained that the parish, under the care of the Dominican friars, has been striving to live in communion with the Lord and His Church, and was coming together to celebrate all the ways in which the community has been faithful to this call.
Among the sisters celebrating their anniversaries was WA Sister Dora Maguire, a former teacher and representative for Good Grief, an organisation that works with children and young people who were struggling with experiences of change, loss and grief.
Members of Perth’s school and parish communities, especially any who have a past association with Doubleview, are warmly invited to attend any of the upcoming as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations.

The doors of St Charles Seminary were opened in 1942, following the purchase of block of land known as Garden Hill in Guildford.
The Seminary has this month celebrated it’s 80th anniversary, with past and present students, rectors, and special guests coming together to mark the occasion.
