Rockingham Parish was recently host to an international food festival to celebrate its 60th anniversary. Multiple countries – including Italy, India, the Philippines and Brazil – were represented with food stalls, and groups within the parish community were showcased with their own stand.
The Archdiocese of Perth has last weekend gained the service of six men to the order of Priesthood during a monumental celebration at St Mary’s Cathedral. More than 1300 people gathered for the priestly ordination of Fr Joseph Laundy, Fr Kenneth Acosta Garcia, Fr Konrad Gagatek, Fr Patricio Carrera Morales, Fr Mariusz Grzech and Fr Tung Vu. Living out the call of being a visible sign of God’s presence in the world was the message Bishop of Broome, Christopher Saunders had for newly ordained Deacon John Bosco last week. Deacon Bosco was ordained to the Diaconate by Bishop Saunders at St Benedict’s Church, Applecross, on 10 November. His ordination to the office of Deacon will now take him to the remote parts of the Kimberley in far north Western Australia, where he will join some 15 clergy members in the Diocese of Broome. The Mass, celebrated by the Bishop of Broome, was concelebrated by St Charles Seminary Rector Father Philip Fleay and priests from across the Archdiocese of Perth. By Josh Low.

NATIONAL – Notre Dame to acquire iconic building in Fremantle’s West End
The University of Notre Dame Australia has this week announced that it has entered into an agreement to purchase the iconic Customs House in Fremantle’s West End. The property comprises of three separate buildings, with a total floor area of 8,000 square metres and street frontage on Packenham, Phillimore and Henry Streets. The agreement is expected to be finalised by the end of November.
Some 1600 people gathered last weekend on 12 November to see renowned Indian Catholic music band, Rexband at the Perth Convention Centre. Archbishop Timothy Costelloe SDB was also present for the night which saw music, dance and worship along with testimonies by various members of the band. By Josh Low
