Homeless inspire Mandorla’s 2021 winning artist

A talented young artist from Maylands, Britt Mikkelson, has won some $25,000, taking out the Acquisitive Prize (sponsored by St John of God Health Care) in this year’s Mandorla Art Awards with a sculptural work representing the volume of homeless people in Australia, 8200 Souls.

Annual Passion of Christ play re-enacted by Disciples of Jesus community

The congregation of City Beach parish and the wider public present at Fremantle on Good Friday and Easter Vigil, were able to experience a Passion of Christ play, by the Disciples of Jesus Covenant Community. The play, which consists of 30 cast members this year, proclaimed the Gospel through drama, music and prayer, as Perth Catholics observed the Holy Week. By Amanda Murthy.

Archbishop Costelloe: “God is made known through Jesus’ life and death”

The Passion of Christ was celebrated by Christians throughout the world this year on Friday, 2 April. The day which commemorates Jesus’ journey to Calvary and His death on the cross, began with the Stations of Cross, followed by a 3pm service. Christ needed to place himself into the hands of the Father, says Bishop Sproxton

Perth Auxiliary Bishop Don Sproxton has spoken about the death and resurrection of Jesus in his homily at an all-night Easter Vigil.“One of the things that we learn in the life of Jesus is that He was the first person to experience death not because He was a sinner, and not because He had a determination to depend on His own resources, but rather because of the trust and the faith that He had in the Father, and in the Father’s plan for Him,” Bishop Sproxton explained.
