The International Day of People with a Disability on 3 December is an annual opportunity for people around the world to organise a local event to celebrate the achievements of people with disability, people like 20-year-old Bailey, Identitywa housemate and the proudest new member of the Midvale Recycling Centre.
Caritas Australia, the Catholic Church’s international aid and development agency, has appointed its first board of directors, a move dictated by the recent incorporation process commenced by the Australian Catholic Bishops’ Conference over a year ago – to foster improved accountability, transparency and governance practices.
Though at first glance the grass is long and the grounds are quiet, as Sister Lourdes Chitra Justin OSM leads the way through to the big shaded play area at the back of the Kora Centre, the sounds of little children happily talking and laughing as they eat a hot, nutritious meal can be heard and four smiling faces beam up at us from around the table.

The 2020 Abraham Conference, “Interfaith on the Frontlines”, embraced and explored the profound changes caused by the pandemic, bringing together healthcare professionals from the Christian, Jewish and Islamic faiths to share their journey in addressing the many frontline challenges faced by each community in responding to COVID-19.
