The congregation of City Beach parish and the wider public present at Fremantle on Good Friday and Easter Vigil, were able to experience a Passion of Christ play, by the Disciples of Jesus Covenant Community. The play, which consists of 30 cast members this year, proclaimed the Gospel through drama, music and prayer, as Perth Catholics observed the Holy Week. By Amanda Murthy.

The Passion of Christ was celebrated by Christians throughout the world this year on Friday, 2 April. The day which commemorates Jesus’ journey to Calvary and His death on the cross, began with the Stations of Cross, followed by a 3pm service. Spanish-born Benedictine Monk Rosendo Salvado arrived set foot on West Australian soil 175 years ago, carrying a mission to build an Aboriginal education system in the middle of the Western Australian outback.
