Tradition of volunteering continues: Bishop Sproxton gives thanks for ‘those who worked hard with the little that they had’

Speaking at the National Volunteers Week Thanksgiving Mass, Auxiliary Bishop Don Sproxton retold how when he was in primary school at Bayswater and Bedford, schools depended on the parents, firstly, to build the school by self-help and then, continue to develop the amenities needed for a more complete education of their children.

Volunteers offer witness of service that we so need to see, says Bishop Sproxton

In his homily for the 2022 Volunteers Week Mass, Auxiliary Bishop Don Sproxton reflected on St John’s Gospel of The Last Supper, highlighting that Jesus is teaching us that God loves us first and that in order for us to live as disciples of that love, we are given the Spirit that enables us to give ourselves totally in the way that he has given.
