Perth Catholics gathered at the Newman Siena Centre on Thursday, 29 July for the final Plenary Council seminar, this time, answering the question, ‘How is God calling us to be a Christ-centred Church in Australia that is a joyful, hope-filled and servant community?’ By Amanda Murthy.

St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital Nurse Unit Manager Ashly Grabski and St John of God Social Outreach (Drug and Alcohol Withdrawal Network) Clinical Nurse Specialist Jupp Groenveld were winners in the Excellence in Registered Nursing and the Consumer Appreciation award categories respectively.

Natural disasters, including bushfires and pandemics, can be highly distressing events for those in disaster affected communities. St John of God Health Care Psychology Manager Donna Buckingham explains the human response to disasters and strategies that can help to overcome these feelings.

A talented young artist from Maylands, Britt Mikkelson, has won some $25,000, taking out the Acquisitive Prize (sponsored by St John of God Health Care) in this year’s Mandorla Art Awards with a sculptural work representing the volume of homeless people in Australia, 8200 Souls.
