As the superstars of the FIFA Women’s World Cup kicked their goals, the launch of Socktober 2023 will have students across Australia kicking their own, and for a good cause.
The carnival, usually held in May, was moved to October this year, a shift that meant it coincided with Catholic Mission’s annual Socktober schools engagement initiative.
Catholic Mission’s Socktober campaign which uses the world game of soccer to encourage students in Catholic schools across Australia to kick goals for good, launched Thursday, with 133 schools from across Australia.
Catholic Mission has launched Socktober, aimed at raising money to support mission projects in Thailand, using soccer. Students are encouraged to “kick goals for kids in need” through the program, which features a six-module journey of learning and formation, packed with activities and resources, and a popular penalty shootout activity which can be held on a school’s mission day.
