Perth Archbishop Timothy Costelloe SDB has reminded some 200 delegates from Perth and Bunbury who are travelling to World Youth in Portugal, not to fall into the trap of creating the Jesus that suits us.
Thirty young adults from across Perth are standing in a carpark near ‘Ye Olde Narrogin Inne’.
The attendees are dressed in a range of colourful clothes, stretching, talking, and laughing.
They’ve come together on a bright Saturday morning to scale up the 500-metre height of ‘Mt Cooke’ with Perth’s Catholic Youth Ministry team.
The topic of faith and community were front and centre for some 40 young adults at a recent weekend retreat for Catholic Youth Ministry staff, volunteers and individuals from campus ministries, lay movements and ecclesial groups.
A vision which steadily aims to change our youth ministry culture and develop disciples “with a heart of mission” has marked it’s one year anniversary at Perth’s Catholic Youth Ministry.
Catholic Youth Ministry Perth recently embarked on a mini camino with 17 participants on Saturday 23 October. The journey began with a Mass at Our Lady of the Revelation Shrine in Bullsbrook and ended at the newly completed Divine Mercy Church in Chittering – a gruelling 15km track up and down the rolling hills.
