The Equestrian Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem (EOHSJ), Western Australian Lieutenancy held a Mass as part of their 2021 Investiture. The Mass on 4 December at Saint Mary’s Cathedral was celebrated by Perth Auxiliary Bishop Don Sproxton, and concelebrated by Father Richard Smith KCHS, Fr Nicholas Nweke KHS, and Fr Phuong Nguyen.

The Australian Catholic Bishops’ Conference, in conjunction with the Justice Ecology Development Office (JEDO), have last week launched the Social Justice Statement 2021-2022: Cry of the Earth, Cry of the Poor at Newman College. The Statement calls for an economic and ecological conversion, asserting that “humanity is called to recognise the need for changes of lifestyle, production and consumption, in order to combat this warming or at least the human causes which produce or aggravate it.”
This year’s NAIDOC Week theme Heal Country was reflected in the Archdiocese annual NAIDOC Mass held at Saint Mary’s Cathedral on Sunday, 1 August. It is in the yearly telling of that story that we can be moved to arenewed faith and commitment to God who never ceases to work in our lives, in our times.

Speaking on an issue vexing enough for experienced Christians to comprehend, let alone teenagers and students, Auxiliary Bishop Donald Sproxton visited Iona Presentation College last Thursday, 17 September, to give a presentation to Year 12 Religion and Life ATAR pupils on the topic of Voluntary Assisted Dying.
