Members of SACRI, a Catechetical association of the Christ’s lay faithful and dedicated to ‘Mary, Mother of the Church’, celebrated the feast of Christ the King at Our Lady’s Shrine, Bullsbrook Parish, on Sunday 22 November.
The celebration of the feast is an annual event carried and organised by the members of the Catechetical Association, which was founded by former protestant Bruno Cornacchiola after he had a vision of the Virgin of the Revelation at Tre Fontane, Rome on 12 April 1947.
Emeritus Archbishop Barry Hickey celebrated the Mass and was joined by Girrawheen Parish Priest Father Albert Saminedi, Kalamunda Parish Priest Fr Anthony Suresh, Maida Vale Parish Priest Fr Joseph Rathnaraj, Chaplain of the Holy Sepulchre Fr Richard Smith, and Fr Augustine Puthota as concelebrants.
Speaking to The eRecord, SACRI WA President Carl Lombardo described the celebration as “wonderful”.
“The event began with a rosary, said and prayed while we were walking and circling the shrine, continued with a benediction and concluded with a Mass. It was an excellent service, and the church was full,” Mr Lombardo said.
“We had safety issues with COVID-19, which we try to as best we could to accommodate. However, given the current circumstances that we have, it was a joyous day and enjoyed by so many. We look forward to greater services in the future.”
The catechetical association members gather weekly on Tuesday afternoons for Rosary, meditations on the writings of Bruno and references contained therein to the Bible and other Church-sanctioned documents.
