Since being ordained as the eighth Bishop of the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle in 2011, Bishop Bill Wright immersed himself in the community.
He led the way in helping the Diocese walk alongside those who need a bit of extra support.
In a moving tribute posted to social media last week, the Diocese said they will miss his wisdom, guidance and thoughtful consideration of many of the issues we face as a society.
