“Missionary Message for the Modern World” is the theme of the Australian Catholic Communications Congress to be held in Sydney from August 28 to 30.

Registrations have now opened for the Congress, which is normally held every three years but has not been staged since 2018 due to the pandemic.

The Congress – supported by the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference, Australian Catholic Media Council and Australasian Catholic Press Association – is an opportunity to network, build skills and learn about the challenges and opportunities in sharing the Gospel in the 21st century.

It is open to everyone involved in media and communications, from beginners to professionals, at a parish, agency, school, diocesan or national level.

The Congress sessions will be held at the Miller Hotel in North Sydney, with the official dinner to be staged at the Kirribilli Club and addressed by former foreign correspondent and journalism educator Peter Greste.

Award-winning US-based author and media literacy educator, Sister Rose Pacatte, will deliver the opening keynote address and lead masterclasses.

The event will feature presentations and masterclasses on artificial intelligence, social media, videography, photography, advertising, book publishing, web design, strategic communications, spiritual conversations and more.

The Congress would not be possible without the sponsorship of Australian Catholic University, Sydney CDF, UniSuper, Caritas and CathNews, and the many hours of work put in by ACPA, ACMC and ACBC personnel.
