Youth group leads Station of the Cross at St Brigid’s church

A re enactment of the Passion of Christ by the Youth Group comprising of children and teens  from Midland’s Parish St Brigid’s Church aided to a more prayerful environment, as part of observing the solemnity of Good Friday.

A strong number of families gathered at the Midland Church at 10am and the 12 Stations of the Cross commenced, supported with reflections, meditations, prayer and song.

Draped in their costumes and armed in their respective characters, youth carried a wooden cross through the stations, channelling Jesus in his final hours.

A parishioner who attended the Stations of the Cross said that the youth did a beautiful job in helping the congregation pray better.

“They depicted what Jesus was going through with reverence and humility.

“This tradition of having the dramatised version incorporated with the prayers makes it more real, and this has been going on for about 20 years now,” she added.

A Good Friday service followed at 3pm.Towards the end of the Liturgy service, Parish Priest Father Benny Calanza and Assistant Parish Priest Fr Grant Gorddard invited those present to come forward for a Veneration of the Cross.

The Easter Mass celebrations took place on 1 April, marking the resurrection of Christ.
