The Centre for Faith Enrichment (CFE) was recently pleased to announce the opening of applications for scholarships from the BJ Hickey Biblical Foundation for the year 2019.

Offered to lay people residing in the Archdiocese of Perth, the scholarships are intended to help those wanting to further their biblical studies of any length at any level, locally or overseas (such as Jerusalem or Rome).

Applicants need not be academics or have an academic background – they do need to have a passion to know and further their understanding of the Scriptures and to help others with that knowledge.

CFE Director Dr Marco Ceccarelli said that the scholarship will soon enter its seventh year and is giving lay people extraordinary opportunities to delve into the richness of the Bible here in Perth, interstate and overseas.

“We’ve just had some people return from a two-week Bible study course in Israel. Travelling in the land where Jesus lived, visiting historical grounds present in the Bible while engaging with Scripture has filled them with knowledge and helped them to grow in faith. They’ve described their experience as extremely fulfilling and informative.”

Commenting on the types of studies which people undertake using the scholarship, Dr Ceccarelli said that these depend on an applicant’s circumstance and whether they can travel away from home.

“While we received a significantly high number of applications this year, we were able to offer scholarships to a number of students wanting to undertake scripture-oriented courses at Perth’s Acts 2 Bible College of Mission and Evangelisation.”

“Another applicant won a scholarship to an online Scripture course through an American university. The course has left him wanting to know more about the Bible and we were delighted to see him pursue his interests through The Centre for Faith Enrichment.”

For those thinking of applying for the 2019 Scholarship, the Centre for Faith Enrichment’s ‘Biblical Foundation Page’ offers both the scholarship application details and the scholarship application form.

Applications for a 2019 Scholarship will need to be submitted by Friday 6 November 2018.
