Classical music fans of Perth will be treated to a Christmas-themed operatic spectacle when Marina Prior performs at the Astor Theatre next month.
In an exclusive interview with The eRecord, the Australian soprano expressed her excitement in performing during her “favourite time of the year”.
“Christmas is a time when we sing songs about peace on earth and joy, and goodwill toward all men,” she said.
“In the age that we live in, nothing could be more needed and relevant than what we focus on at Christmas time – the peace, the joy, the forgiveness.
“I think that’s why Christmas is so loved, because at the centre of it is about love.”
Marina is no stranger to Perth having starred in numerous musical theatre productions over the span of her 35-year stage career.
Her thespian talents eventually blossomed into a successful solo career. Earlier this year, she toured alongside tenor David Hobson and last month was the supporting act for global sensation Il Divo.

As a devout Christian, Marina is pleased to have featured in the annual Carols by Candlelightconcert a whopping 27 times.
“Faith colours my whole outlook on life – it gives me a rock in hard times, and it gives me joy in good times. It gives me a source of wisdom and help,” she added.
Musical virtuoso David Cameron will join the Marina on stage to create “some really beautiful sounds”.
Together, the duo will share classic carols such as Silent Night, Angels We Have Heard on High, Mary’s Boy Child, and When A Child Is Born.
“I’ll also do some Celtic Christmas songs, and uplifting songs like You Raise Me Up and The Prayer that kind of feel Christmassy to me.”
Christmas with Marina Prior promises to showcase a captivating mix of traditional Christmas classics and family favourites, as well as moments of reflection and stories of treasured Christmas occasions.
