Santa Maria College students have last month celebrated a Santa4Santa Day.

In a special report for The eRecord, the school commented that the occasion was filled with excitement and compassion for the festive season.

Students from Years Five to 12 participated in the day to raise funds for the annual Christmas appeal.

The school grounds were filled with Christmas colours, with as many as eight service groups working together to create an event full of delicious food and fun activities complementing the theme of Christmas as a time of giving.

At recess the choir joined in on the festivities singing Christmas carols and at lunch the Lil’ Rockets cheerleading group performed for the students.

The money raised will be donated to St Pats Community Centre Fremantle, St Vincent de Paul Society and The Shopfront, which will be handed over at the Christmas Mass at the end of the term.

Santa Maria College Service Learning Coordinator Jilly Landers said Santa4Santa Day is a day embraced by all the girls in the true spirit of Catherine McAuley.

“It marks the launch of our Christmas Appeal and the students and staff raised $2675 to help these agencies. What a great day to come together to for a worthy cause,” Ms Landers said.
