Catholic Youth Ministry Perth held its very first ‘Hype’ night, Saturday 16 March.
Young teens from around Perth had the opportunity to come together in Christ for this night of energy, fun and connection, held at the Treeby Community and Sports Centre.
From giant board games and Mario Kart, air hockey and nerf target practice, to potentially too much sugar and a strobe-lit dance floor, this evening went off with a bang.
The young participants also played Just Dance, had some intense basketball slam-dunk contests, and had the chance to form new and lasting relationships in a safe space.
Besides the endless amount of fun and entertainment brought by the Hype night, the young participants also had the opportunity to meet with their local youth groups and the Disciples of Jesus Perth Youth Mission Team.
CYM had the pleasure of collaborating with these youth groups, who each ran a game and introduced their group to the participants, with the goal of connecting young people back into the Church.
CYM Director Adam Phillips explained to The Record, the night would not have been the phenomenal success that it was without the help and energy of all the amazing youth ministry workers and youth leader volunteers.
“Who never hesitated to ensure each young person felt included and had an awesome experience,” Mr Phillips said.
“Overall, the Hype night created a social environment where young people could feel at ease, build relationships, and gather in community while youth ministers were provided a space for outreach and evangelisation to our young people in the mission of the Church,” Mr Phillips continued.
More information on upcoming Hype night events will be available in the coming months.
