Sharyn has dreamed about a home that offers not only comfort but also freedom to live more independently.

That dream is now becoming a reality.

She will soon move into a brand-new Identitywa Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) home.

Identitywa is proud to announce that this purpose-built accessible home is one of 16 being built across the metropolitan area, including in your local community, to support 48 people with disability.

These homes are designed to empower people with disability to live the life they choose and represent a significant milestone in inclusive housing.

This collaboration represents an exciting milestone in increasing the availability of Specialist Disability Accommodation.

Identitywa Chief Executive Officer Marina Re highlighted the importance of the project in fostering inclusion, independence and dignity.

“Everyone wants to live in a home that suits their needs and supports their goals.

“These homes are not just buildings, they represent choice and control, belonging and quality of life.”

Each home has been thoughtfully designed to cater to a large range of abilities, featuring spacious bedrooms with accessible ensuites, open plan kitchens, and level entrances.

Sensory friendly design features have been incorporated to create supportive environments tailored to individual needs.

Families of future residents recently toured one of the homes under construction expressing enthusiasm for the new opportunities these homes will bring.

Among them were Sharyn’s brother and sister, Phil and Denise, who visited a site featuring two homes, one of which is destined to be their sister’s new home in Belmont.

The property sits on a lovely spacious corner block, offering open space and easy access to and between the two homes, thoughtfully designed to accommodate the land’s high and low elevation.

The modern layout features wide doors and hallways, open-plan shared spaces and amenities, extra high walls and ceilings, many large windows for natural light and inviting outdoor areas.

“It was exciting to see the solid progress, despite WA’s property development challenges. Meeting the building management team, tradespeople and Identitywa board members onsite highlighted the care behind these homes,” Phil said.

“Sharyn and her friends are sure to enjoy happy times ahead in this welcoming space. Thank you for the invitation and to everyone contributing to this wonderful project’s success,” Phil concluded.

Jarra’s Development Director Stefan Piruk confirmed construction is progressing well both in Belmont and across the portfolio of 16 homes being delivered by Jarra.

“With settlement recently completed on the final site, it’s been a rewarding journey collaborating with Identitywa to bring these thoughtfully designed homes to life,” Mr Piruk said.

We’re proud to be part of a project that prioritises accessibility, comfort and community, and we look forward to delivering homes that truly make a difference in people’s lives,” he said.

The initiative also supports local community growth aligning with local council goals to build inclusive supportive neighbourhoods.
