Catholic Mission is thrilled to welcome Brother Andrew Tran Le Phuong SDB to Australia during World Mission Month, celebrating the life-changing work of missionaries around the globe.

As a Salesian missionary in Mongolia, Br Andrew leads impactful projects such as the House of Mercy and the Don Bosco Caring Centre, which embody the spirit of this celebration by bringing much needed education, care, and a message of hope to the people living at the margins of society.

This year’s World Mission Sunday was celebrated on 20 October, under the theme, ‘Go and invite everyone to the banquet’, reflecting the inclusive mission of sharing God’s love with all.

Br Andrew’s missionary work in Mongolia resonates with this message as he dedicates himself to empowering young people through education and to providing health access to all, bringing hope where it is most needed.

One of the many lives changed through Br Andrew’s work is Chuluunbaatar, a man who found shelter at the House of Mercy, after a serious injury that left him facing homelessness.

At the House of Mercy, he was able to receive warm meals, medical support, and emotional care that helped him rebuild his life. “I know what I will do today and tomorrow. It gives me a very nice hope,” Chuluunbaatar shared.

To celebrate this day of global solidarity, Catholic Mission, with its worldwide network of the Pontifical Mission Societies, launched a global video featuring missionaries from over 40 countries reflecting on this theme in different languages.

This gathering of missionaries from different nationalities is reflective of the diversity and unity of the global Church, and its effort and commitment to being inclusive and welcoming to all.

As World Mission Month reached its highpoint last Sunday, Catholic Mission encouraged everyone to support missionaries like Br Andrew through prayers, material offerings, and active participation.

His work in Mongolia, especially through the House of Mercy, is a testament to the power of faith in action, bringing hope and healing to the people most in need.
