Cup Cakes, fresh scones, tea and gourmet sandwiches were just some of the delicious food served at the recent High Tea hosted by Identitywa to mark Carers Week 2015.

Carers Week is an annual event held in the third week of October raising awareness of the vital role carers have in the lives of people all over Australia.

Lotterywest and Carers WA offer grants for care-related organisations to host their own event during this special week and Identitywa was successful in its application for funds to host a High Tea for family members of the people it supports.

Ed Mayvis, Identitywa Engagement Leader, coordinated the special event which was held at the Sassy Cookie in Victoria Park which specialises in ‘glamorous High Tea experiences’.

Chair of Identitywa’s Board, Graeme Mander, welcomed the guests and encouraged them to enjoy the chance to share their stories with each other.

“We wanted to acknowledge and extend our hospitality to the people who are so giving to others,” said Graeme.

“We understand the absolute commitment that a carer is required to give. We see it as our role to support them whenever we can.”

Ed was delighted with the response to the event.

“The guests really enjoyed having ‘time out’ and spending time together,” said Ed.

“We will definitely be looking for other opportunities for this type of gathering in the future.”
