Aranmore Catholic College has celebrated a historic start to the new school year as an amalgamated Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 Catholic school.
At special opening events held last week, all staff and students came together for the first time to experience the milestone in the college’s history.
With just a few days of school experience, the kindergarten students joined the college’s early years classes on the secondary campus to celebrate with prayer and fun activities designed for young learners. An immediate connection was made between the students with some secondary students assisting with the activities.
At the same time, the Year 3 to 12 students celebrated a Mass with The Very Rev Fr Vincent Glynn, Vicar General of the Perth Archdiocese, that featured a combined years choir.
College Principal Lisa Fogliani said the amalgamation of Aranmore Catholic Primary School and Aranmore Catholic College was a significant moment in both schools’ connected histories that represented a new era in Catholic education at the college.
“Our Opening Mass was a wonderful opportunity for our new community to come together and celebrate our college and the opportunities our amalgamation will bring to our students, staff and wider community,” Ms Fogliani said.
“Our college has such a rich history in Leederville and we are looking forward to embracing more opportunities for our students and growing connections with our local community,” she added.
