Personal Advocacy Service board member and event organiser Greg D’Souza said he was very pleased with the response and success of the evening.

“The room was filled with a lot of positive energy and it soon became obvious after the live band started up that the dance floor would be busy throughout the night,” he said.

“All those who attended were jovial and friendly and had come with one purpose only – to enjoy themselves.”

Interspersed with the lively tunes of local band, Indiana, was the drawing of several raffles – including a five-night stay in Paris – and a number of other competitions.

Mr D’Souza went on to say that he was impressed with the generosity of those who gave their time and resources, including prizes and food sold at the event, which assisted in raising $10,000 on the night.

“Most of those in attendance had little connection with PAS,” Mr D’Souza said, “but this event provided them with the opportunity to get to know the aim of our work as an Archdiocesan agency.”

He said the money raised would be used for the training and mentoring of community volunteers who facilitate the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities into parish and community life within the Perth metropolitan area.

Personal Advocacy Service Director Anabelle May said she was overwhelmed by the response and generosity of all those who contributed to the event and had made it such a success.

“The evening was truly a local community helping build greater community for the benefit of all people – with and without disabilities,” she said.
