A choir that formed for World Youth Day last year to present musical masterworks in the Catholic cannon of sacred music.
St Joseph’s Chamber Choir are set to mine the great canon of sacred music in a September 13 concert at St Joseph’s Church, Subiaco, performing works by Palestrina (Kyrie) and Perosi (Ave Maria) amongst others, with some twentieth century pop thrown in.
Entry to the hour-long concert will be by donation for a 3.30pm start on Sunday evening.
The choir formed for the World Youth Day Cross celebrations at St Brigid’s, Northbridge, in the lead up to World Youth Day last year.
Andrew Cichy, bass vocalist with the choir and a former vocal trainer of St Charles’s Seminarians told The Record that its members "clicked" so well, that they decided to make their choir an ongoing concern, performing at youth Masses throughout Perth in the past 12 months.
It will be Mr Cichy’s last performance with the choir before his studies in Music commence at Oxford University later this month.
The concert is being sponsored by St Joseph’s Church and the City of Subiaco.
