Centacare Employment and Training are currently on the lookout for six more volunteers to provide classroom support to teachers under the Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) program.

Centacare is an agency under the Catholic Archdiocese of Perth which offers courses and support services primarily for the disadvantaged, regardless of their religious or cultural backgrounds. The role will commence from early March for a minimum of six months.

Appointed volunteers will be assisting at the training sites in Armadale, Gosnells, Cannington and Fremantle.

This yearly recruitment process allows volunteers to gain quality experience, assisting in various areas such as working one-on-one with students, facilitating conversational groups, and providing fundamental support in developing English language skills amongst the students.

Candidates who have adult literacy or experience with teaching English to adults as an additional language, are highly encouraged to apply.

All successful applicants will need to undergo an eight week training program to prepare for the role. Upon training, volunteers will also be qualified to mentor students.

With a mission to “transform lives through education, training and employment” Centacare is also  keen to hear from applicants of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background for the Kadadjiny Bidi program – a work preparation course for Aboriginal people which will be operating at their latest training site in Armadale.

For more information contact contact Kate Richardson (Human Resource Officer) at volunteers@centacarewa.com.au for an application form.
