The Catholic Youth Assembly was officially launched on Friday 7 March with great energy and enthusiasm at St Mary’s Cathedral Parish Centre, bringing together just under 120 youth and young adults from across the Archdiocese.

The event featured key addresses from Perth Archbishop Timothy Costelloe SDB, Vicar General the Very Rev Fr Vincent Glynn, and Catholic Youth Ministry (CYM) Director Adam Phillips, who each spoke on the importance of youth engagement in the life of the Church.

Reflecting on the event, Adam Phillips expressed his excitement about the initiative, stating following the review on youth, it is inspiring to embark on this synodal journey with the young people of our Archdiocese as we discern the formation of a Catholic Youth Council.

“The level of engagement at the launch was incredibly encouraging, and we look forward to walking this journey together,” Mr Phillips said.

The Catholic Youth Assembly marks a significant step towards increased youth involvement in the Church, with a vision to create a dynamic and representative Catholic Youth Council.

The next milestone in this journey is the first Listening and Discernment Session: Communion, which will serve as a foundational gathering for the formation of the council.
