A tick over 50 grandparents gathered for the recent Grandparents Day Sunday Afternoon High Tea event organised the events team of St Francis Xavier Church Armadale Parish.

The event was unique and remarkable in the way those gathered felt celebrated, honoured and valued as the grandparents and elders of their parish community.

Catholic Mission Director, Francis Leong, used to occasion to inspire those gathered about the significant role they play in the faith education and journey of their grandchildren.

Mr Leong reflected on how as a sign of the times, grandparents are called upon more often to look after their grandchildren and even great grandchildren.

“This provides an ideal opportunity for our grandparents to share with their little ones the gift of prayer,” Mr Leong said.

“To this end, Catholic Mission offered each grandparent a Grandparent Gift Pack,” he said.

Mr Leong continued by explaining that inside each gift pack were a variety of practical prayer activity ideas for grandparents to instil in their grandchildren the importance and gift of prayer in their everyday lives.  If a small or even large group of grandparents would like to know more about and receive a Grandparent Gift Pack from Catholic Mission contact Francis Leong via email at  director.cm@perthcatholic.org.au or contact 08 9422 7933.
