Beauty of feminine identity on display at upcoming Women’s Conference

Women from the Perth Catholic community are stepping into the journey with other like-minded Catholic women from all walks of life this weekend to be formed and equipped for the challenges of today’s world in the footsteps of St Mary Magdalene.

The program will include a welcome address delivered by the Vicar General, the Very Rev Fr Vincent Glynn VG, and the keynote address by Prof Renee Köhler-Ryan, University of Notre Dame Australia.

Furthermore, participants will be able to join various workshop options before and after lunch, followed by a panel and rosary prayer in the afternoon.

Natalie Thomas, holding a Master of Theology from the John Paul II Institute and a Masters of Philosophy by research from the University of Notre Dame Australia in Fremantle, teaching at CFE since 2019, will explore the theme “Embodying the Feminine Genius: The Beauty of Womanhood in Service to the Gospel.”

In this workshop, participants will delve into the rich concept of the Feminine Genius as exemplified by St Mary Magdalene, the “apostle to the apostles.” Drawing from Catholic teachings and the lives of saints, this session aims to deepen understanding and appreciation for the profound role women play in the Church and society.

Participants will leave empowered to embrace their identity as daughters of God and equipped to share the beauty of their feminine genius with the world.

Wife and mother of three children, as well as former Director of Catholic Youth Ministry (2009-2022), Anita Parker, will share her insights about the topic: “Love’s Blueprint: Building Strong Relationships in a Digital Age” She will unpack the timeless principles of authentic love and communication amidst the challenges of modern technology. This workshop offers practical insights and tools for cultivating healthy relationships that honour God’s design for love and connection.

Our workshop on Marriage & Family “Nurturing Sacred Bonds in a Secular World” will be delivered by Jane Borg, an active member of All Saints Church, Greenwood Parish and a leader within the Disciples of Jesus Covenant Community, and former Principal of Acts 2 College of Mission & Evangelisation, a nationally registered Catholic ministry training college here in Perth.

Jane will take participants on a journey into the heart of marriage and family life as sacred vocations entrusted by God. Through personal stories, practical tips, and spiritual insights, this workshop offers encouragement and guidance for those seeking to cultivate faith, love, and resilience in today’s culture.

Finally, Christine Fernandez, also married with three children having experience working for the Centre for Life, Marriage, and Family, and is currently teaching Human Biology, Psychology, and Health Studies, will present a workshop on “Fertility Awareness: Empowering Women to Embrace Their Natural Cycles.”

She’ll invite participants to discover the beauty and benefits of natural fertility management (NFM) as a holistic approach to fertility care. This interactive workshop provides education, support, and resources for women and couples seeking to understand and embrace their fertility in harmony with Catholic teachings.

All conference speakers will seek to inspire and empower all women present to discover the profound truth of our faith and the beauty of our feminine identity, and to be sent forth as apostles into our homes, workplaces, schools, and communities.
