“We are a sign and instrument of communion with God and with others.”
This was the message delivered by Archbishop Timothy Costelloe SDB during his visit to Merredin and Kellerberrin from 16 to 18 November.
“We are disciples who know we have to look beyond ourselves to another to lead us to Christ,” Archbishop Costelloe added.
During his homily, Archbishop Costelloe reminded the congregation that the Church should always be the first healer of wounds and warmer of hearts to all those who come.

Archbishop Costelloe’s weekend visit included meeting the parish council, leaders and parishioners of St Mary’s Church, Merriden Parish, and St Joseph’s Church, Kellerberrin Parish.
Students from St Mary’s Primary School, Merriden were also formally presented with the 2017 Archbishop’s Spirit Award for their outstanding support and positive participation in LifeLink Day last year.

Upon receiving the LifeLink Award, Principal Adriana Coniglio thanked Archbishop Costelloe for his support, adding that the students and staff were thrilled to receive recognition for their charitable acts, within and outside their community.
“Being a regional school, we honestly did not expect to win, but we are so grateful that we did, because this award encourages us to want to do more for those less fortunate who need our support and help.”
Parish Priest Father Andrew Bowron said the Archbishop’s presence brought confidence and optimism to the parishes and school communities.
“The community is so grateful and blessed for Archbishop Costelloe’s continuous support, and for being a true upholder of the faith and leader of our Church,” Fr Bowron concluded.
