Two Aranmore Catholic College students have returned from the Bahamas as winners after competing in the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games held from 19 to 23 July.
Langley Sesega and Kennedy Cherrington were part of the winning Women’s Rugby Seven’s team that returned victorious after taking out first place, beating Canada 31-5 in the final in an undefeated campaign at the Commonwealth Youth Games.
With four months of preparation for the trip, Langley Sesega and Kennedy Cherrington both dedicated themselves to training, ensuring their skills and fitness were at their peak for the challenge.

“I’m so proud of this gold medal and seeing what the girls did in Rio was inspiring to see that it can be done,” Ms Cherrington said, according to The Courier Mail.
The Commonwealth Youth Games, which was the sixth edition of the Youth Games which began in 2000, saw the participation of some 1300 youth athletes from the 70 Commonwealth Nations & Territories.
