Catholic Youth Ministry Perth is inviting all Perth youth and young adults to join in the celebration of Christ the King Youth Festival at St Mary’s Cathedral, Sunday 24 November 2024.
The special day not only commemorates the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe but is also an annual diocesan celebration, instigated by Pope Francis for World Youth Day around the world.
Catholic Youth Ministry Director Adam Phillips encouraged youth and young adults to unite with other like-minded youth in celebrating their faith.
“Our faith can be a life-changing experience,” Mr Phillips said.
“Christ the King Festival is an opportunity to support youth of this Archdiocese in helping them put Christ at the forefront of their heart and mind,” he said.
Mr Phillips continued by highlighting that now more than ever, youth of today need a clear understanding of what it means to be a Christian and especially a Christian in our Catholic tradition.
“The answer, as Archbishop Costelloe has explained previously, is a name – Jesus Christ.
“And it is vital that we work together in helping each other begin to understand and think deeply about what it means,” he said.
The free event will include Mass to celebrate youth and young adults in our Archdiocese along with a range of festival activities held on the Cathedral grounds.
There will be a special blessing for our youth and youth leaders during Mass and festivities to follow, including live music, expo stands, food trucks and various other activities.
