The ring belonging to Pope Pius IX is made of gold, aquamarine and red garnet. It is part of an exhibit of Vatican art treasures on tour in the United States until fall next year. The exhibit, “St. Peter and the Vatican: The Legacy of the Popes,” opens March 2 at the Houston Museum of Natural Science and ends Sept. 6, 2004, at the San Diego Museum of Art.
