Crime Writer is the first novel by author Dime Sheppard.
With its action-filled, plot, larger-than-life characters, and twist on the old adage that truth is stranger than fiction, this one is a must-read for those looking for something fresh and original.
Crime writer Evie Howland is supposed to be planning the wedding of her dreams to her billionaire fiancé Daniel Bradley, but she’s seriously entangled in the 16th book of her successful crime series.
With a serious case of writer’s block, her protagonists are becoming almost impossible to wrangle.
One is volatile after a messy divorce, and the other has that heated look in his blue eyes again.
They’re both sick of being written and Evie is beginning to wonder if she will ever get them back into fiction where they belong.
When a disturbingly familiar news story surfaces in the city papers, it seems as though other darker characters might have crossed the fiction-frontier too. In which case Evie is in a lot of real-life trouble.
If she is going to survive, Evie must face her own worst fears and learn that real love can be the best way of writing her own story. But can she change the ending?
Crime Writer had me captured from the moment I turned the first page.
The central plot is a unique concept in a genre that can often be full of tired overdone stereotypes.
This novel was a refreshing change that kept me guessing from start to finish as all the best books should.
Sheppard writes her characters with a quirky realism that makes the reader feel part of the story and the characters come to life.
One of my favourite new authors.
I would highly recommend Crime Writer if you are looking for a good read that you just can’t put down.
