There are better ways to help the sufferer than killing the sufferer, Sydney Archbishop Anthony Fisher has said.

Sharing his life experience in a special interview with Archdiocese of Perth Communications Manager Jamie O’Brien, Archbishop Fisher said the laws of euthanasia and abortion are heartbreaking.

“Whatever religious system or philosophy someone is ascribed to, there is a common ground of humanity. This would tell us that when you are vulnerable, you wanted to be loved and protected. They are totally against human dignity,” Archbishop Fisher said.
Archbishop Fisher said that there are better ways to help the sufferer than killing the sufferer.

“A few years ago I was close to death due to a severe Guillain-Barre syndrome and was totally paralysed from neck down. The pain was intolerable and I was unable to feed or wash myself.

“Spending five months in a hospital alongside others with similar conditions taught me the humiliations and temptations of serious illness. In those moments, we need to be loved and protected,” Archbishop Fisher shared.
