On Saturday 9 May, Irene McCormack Catholic College proudly hosted its Liverpool Football Club International Academy Community Day, a free family‑friendly event hosted by the college in partnership with LFC Academy Australia.

The very well attended event provided a unique opportunity for the local community to engage with the global Liverpool FC brand, including world-class football skill sessions delivered by LFC Academy coaches.

The day was filled with energy and connection as young people and their families came together to learn new skills, enjoy the game, and strengthen their sense of belonging.

The college community was also honoured to welcome special guests including CEWA representatives Annette Morey, Dan Wood, Neil Alweyn, and Glennda Scully, as well as MLA Lorna Clarke, Member for Butler.

Adding further to the event was the free sausage sizzle that resulted in a celebration of football, community connection and family participation in an inclusive and welcoming environment.

The college’s partnership with the LFC International Academy has contributed to its growth in enrolments.

Principal Andrew Billingsley said the program had helped position the college as a school committed to excellence in both sport and learning and had opened doors for students who may not have previously envisioned themselves on an elite sporting pathway.

Looking ahead, the college is committed to expanding the program, strengthening pathways, and deepening the partnership to ensure students have access to high quality coaching and meaningful sporting experiences.

It is also investigating a pilot program whereby students can undertake free Micro Credentials through the Australian College of Physical Education that can be credited as one unit toward an online undergraduate degree.
