This marks the first time such recognition has been bestowed upon an Australian organisation (since the awards began in 2005), highlighting the Archdiocese’s strong commitment to safeguarding.
A figure of 81,736 students (Kindergarten to Year 12) were enrolled at the 162 Catholic schools – a 1.8 per cent increase compared to February 2023.
The study highlights that young people’s social relationships during these years impact their current and future health, wellbeing, learning, academic performance, and relationships with peers and family.
On what was one of the hottest weekends of Perth’s summer – the 17 and 18 February – thirteen Indonesian Australian married Catholic couples and a Perth based Indonesian Australian Catholic priest enjoyed a weekend of formation.
Organised by the Vocations Office and Committee, the event forms part of the Archdiocese’s commitment to supporting the wellbeing of seminarians through initiatives that foster connections with the Catholic and wider community and support their personal and social development.

Speaking about the 50th anniversary of Greenwood’s All Saints Church, Parish Priest Fr Elver Delicano said one undeniable truth remains – the divine grace that sustains us.

Addressing the scholarship recipients and their guests, Fr Vincent linked Archbishop Hickey’s decision to open a Scholarship in 2013 to his great love for the Scriptures enkindled through a sabbatical year spent in the Holy Land.
Former La Salle Principal, now CEWA Executive Director, Wayne Bull, with former students Aaron Haji-Ali and Zoe Sparkes, now working at St Mary’s College, Broome, were commissioned for 2024. Joining them was Brother Berkeley Fitzhardinge, former principal of La Salle.
The Churack family initially donated $1 million to the University in 2013, which established the Churack Chair of Chronic Pain Education and Research, in partnership with St John of God Subiaco Hospital.
