Surgeon crafts and gifts crucifix to St John of God Murdoch Hospital

St John of God Murdoch Hospital orthopaedic surgeon Professor Piers Yates has ignited his passion for art, creating a large crucifix made from welded recycled metal tools, equipment and implants used in orthopaedic surgery. Mary’s Mount Primary School going strong at 100 years

Mary’s Mount Primary school celebrated their 100th birthday with a Mass and various activities throughout the year. The school opened in 1921 as a boy’s college by the Sisters of St Joseph of the Apparition.
Mother Emily was the first Superior with Sisters Patrick and Carmel to help her. Today it is difficult to picture Mary’s Mount humble beginnings of three Sisters, five boarders and 12 day pupils. By Amanda Murthy.

Ivy joins the Good Samaritans as an Oblates

Geraldton-born Ivy Dalgety has become a Good Samaritan Oblate on 23 April, in a “beautiful, spirit-filled” ceremony in Western Australia. A couple of years ago, Ivy was on a retreat when she was struck by the parable of the invalid man by the pool in Bethesda, which led her to discern her call to be associated with the religious order.
