OBITUARY: Fr Francis Ly Van Ca remembered for generosity, dedication and enthusiasm to assist those in need

Ordained 4 September 1984 by then Archbishop William Foley, Fr Francis Ly Van Ca will be remembered for his dedication to the Vietnamese Community, in addition to his numerous roles across the Archdiocese of Perth. He passed away 26 July 2022.

Redemptoris Mater seminarian Felipe Fernandez will tonight be ordained to the Order of Deacon by Auxiliary Bishop Don Sproxton, at St Mary’s Cathedral.

Hailing originally from Colombia, Felipe recalls in a special interview for The Record that it was during his rebellious teenage years that he experienced a moment of enlightenment, asking God to intervene.

Archdiocese of Perth set to begin a process of discernment for the ministry of the Permanent Diaconate.

Derived from the Greek ‘diakonos’ meaning ‘servant’, a deacon’s ministry is one of service to the community and the proclamation of the Word of God. Since the time of the apostles and the early Church, deacons have played an important role in the life and ministry of the Church.

Perth Archbishop Timothy Costelloe SDB has now commenced inviting expressions of interest for men who are who are willing to discern whether the Permanent Diaconate may be God’s will for them.

Clergy Multi-Sports Day a winner for all

Lived faith in the family guides Perth boy towards priesthood

Growing up in Kingsley with his parents and siblings, Perth born 27-year-old Nicholas says his vocation towards the priesthood has stemmed from having a lived faith experience transmitted through his family.
