Catholics across the Archdiocese of Perth are invited to pray for vocations and reflect on God’s call in their own lives during National Vocations Awareness Week, celebrated across Australia from 2 to 9 August 2026.

The Perth Vocations Office has organised a full program of events for the week, with the whole Catholic community being encouraged to take part.

The week opens with a Vocations Mass on Sunday 2 August, celebrated by Auxiliary Bishop Nelson Po at St Mary’s Cathedral at 11 am.

It continues with Vocations at Catholic Youth Ministry’s Common Ground on 5 August, a Vocations Expo on 7 August and 40 Hours of Perpetual Adoration, before closing with a Vocations Sports Day on 9 August.

Everyone is warmly invited to participate throughout the week. For all event details and to register, Click Here.

Marked around the country each year, the week sets aside time for the whole Church to pray for more men and women to answer God’s call to the priesthood, consecrated life and other vocations, and to encourage people to listen for that call in their own lives.

Those who cannot attend the events are still encouraged to take part by praying for vocations in their parish or at home.

National Vocations Awareness Week continues the following weekend with a Women’s Discernment Retreat Day on Saturday 15 August at Trinity College, East Perth.

Running from 9.30 am to 4 pm, the day is open to women aged 18 to 35 and has been organised by the Perth Vocations Committee.

Held under the theme “Called to more?”, the retreat offers a day of prayer, reflection, conversation and Mass.

Guest speakers include Sr Margaret Scharf and Dr Pina Ford, who will share their own stories of faith, vocation and discernment.

The day is open to women who are actively discerning a vocation, as well as those who simply want to take time to listen more deeply to God’s presence and invitation in their lives.
