Camino pilgrims follow in Bishop Salvado’s footsteps
When a group of 24 pilgrims took part in the Camino Salvado Pilgrimage from Subiaco to New Norcia last week, they took with them a valuable resource: a booklet reflecting on the life of Benedictine Bishop Rosendo Salvado, after whom the Camino is named.

In new book, Pope Francis upholds traditional marriage; need to help sinners
By virtue of its very definition, marriage can only be between a man and a woman, Pope Francis said in a new book-length interview.
“We cannot change it. This is the nature of things, not just in the Church but in human history,” the Holy Father said in interviews with Dominique Wolton, a 70-year-old French sociologist and expert in media and political communication. Published in French, the 417-page book, Politique et Societe (Politics and Society) will be released on 6 September with Catholic News Service obtaining an advance copy, and excerpts appeared online. “When it comes to the true nature of marriage as well as gender, there is critical confusion at the moment,” the Pope said.
INTERNATIONAL: Pope Francis set to visit Myanmar in November
A day after appealing for an end the violent persecution of the Rohingya people, a Muslim minority in Myanmar, the Vatican announced Pope Francis will visit the country in late November. After his visit from 27 to 30 November to the cities of Yangon and Naypyitaw in Myanmar, the Pope will travel on to Dhaka, Bangladesh, from 30 November to 2 December, the Vatican said in a statement on 28 August.
