Archbishop Costelloe led the first speech for the Formation Day for the Archdiocesan Assembly, drawing upon the experience of the Fifth Plenary Council of Australia, and his role as President, in speaking about What is a Diocesan Assembly and the recommendations of a Diocesan Pastoral Council.

It is very characteristic of our Catholic tradition that we honour the saints, look to their lives and witness for inspiration and example, and rely on their prayers in times of need and distress, Archbishop Costelloe has said, speaking at the Mass to honour the relics of St John Bosco at St Mary’s Cathedral.

As part of Archbishop Costelloe’s 2023 LifeLink Day for Primary Schools initiative, students were invited to create a collage that visually expressed their learning and educational experience resulting from LifeLink Day.

As the longest serving Bishop in Australia, Bunbury Bishop Gerard Holohan has last week highlighted that he has been inspired by the priests, especially those ministering in more distant and isolated parishes, and also grateful for their welcome. Pope Francis has officially accepted his resignation as the fourth Bishop of Bunbury, announcing Perth Archbishop Timothy Costelloe SDB has Apostolic Administrator.

Celebrating the 90th anniversary of Sacred Heart Church, Mundaring Parish, Perth Archbishop Timothy Costelloe SDB explained that a priestly people will be a group of people who are prepared and willing and doing their very best to offer themselves for the sake of others.

“We’re all called to do that,” Archbishop Costelloe said.
