Preaching the Word of God and building the body of Christ remains the primary missions of newly commissioned Senior Directors of Flame Ministries International (FMI) Kaye Rollings and Cyrus D’Souza.

The pair were officially inducted at the conclusion of the 11am Mass on Sunday, 8 September, in conjunction with the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Celebrating the Mass was Perth Auxiliary Bishop Donald Sproxton, who thanked FMI for their spiritual contribution to the Perth community before imparting his blessings on them as they carry on the baton from the late Eddie Russell SD, who passed away on 16 May 2019, having dedicated 30 years of his life to the ministry.

Founded in 1990 by Mr Russell, FMI is a Neo-Pentecostal (Charismatic) Lay Preaching Institution of the Roman Catholic Church canonically constituted as ‘A Public Association of Christ’s Faithful’.

FMI presently comprises of a team of 14 members, with regional offices operating in Geelong, Victoria and Birmingham, UK, confirmed Mrs Rollings.

Mrs Rollings and Mr D’Souza spoke to The Record about their new roles and what their plans are for FMI moving forward.

“As Senior Directors, our primary role is to preach and teach the Word of God through biblical truth and the Catholic faith,” Mrs Rollings said.

“FMI is not something I do, it’s what I am and by serving God through this ministry, I have become strong in the knowledge of His great love and mercy for us all.

“This has come about through the power of His Holy Spirit, through prayer and the truth of His Word, the Bible,” she added.

Mr D’Souza said Mr Russell had selected both Directors after much prayer and discernment and had been mentoring and forming them towards their role for some time now, before appointing them in February this year.

“Being involved in Flame has increased my knowledge of God and has led me to a deeper faith experience,” Mr D’Souza said.

“My mum who receives Communion at home, made an effort to attend today’s Mass, to witness this occasion and my siblings along with their families also attended the Mass to support me – Their support means so much to me and has encouraged me to continue to do God’s work.

“My aim would be to raise up the next generation to continue the work of Flame Ministries International, to build the body of Christ,” he added.

When asked about FMI’s plans for the near future, Mrs Rollings confirmed that preparations are currently underway for the next FMI Annual Congress, set for 17 to 19 January 2020.

She confirmed that Flame offers a weekly outreach – The Lion of Judah Catholic Prayer Fellowship, at 7.30pm every Wednesday night at the Nedlands Parish Hall and the first Wednesday of every month is given over to a Night of Healing.

“Recently, Flame has accepted invitations to speak on the Word of God in several Perth parishes,” Mrs Rollings said.

“We have also conducted a ‘New Life in God’s Spirit seminar’ in Ballarat, Victoria and will be presenting a weekend seminar in country Victoria on Biblical Blood Covenants during October.

“We are also awaiting confirmation of a seminar to be presented in Malaysia,” she concluded.
