The Perth Vocations Office is inviting Catholics across the Archdiocese to take part in National Vocations Awareness Week (2 – 9 August), with an expanded program of events designed to encourage people to explore the many ways God calls each of us to live lives of purpose, service and faith.
This year’s program introduces several exciting new initiatives creating more opportunities for people to pray, connect and discover where God may be calling them.
Vocations Expo
A major addition for 2026 is the redesigned Vocations Expo, to be held on Friday 7 August at the St Mary’s Cathedral Parish Centre from 6pm.
The event will bring together religious orders, Catholic ministries and organisations from across Perth, offering visitors the opportunity to meet and chat with those living a variety of vocations within the Church.
Exhibitors include the Catholic Youth Ministry, St Vincent de Paul Society, Catholic Family & Justice Support Services, Servite Sisters, Oblates of Mary Immaculate, Discalced Carmelite Order, Sisters of Saint Joseph of the Apparition, Canons Regular of Prémontré (Norbertines), Little Sisters of the Poor, Somascan Fathers, Personal Advocacy Service and St Charles and Redemptoris Mater seminarians alongside Perth Vocations Office representatives.
Guests will enjoy refreshments, music and conversation while discovering the many different ways to become involved in the life and mission of the Church.

40-Hour Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration for Vocations
Another new initiative is the 40-Hour Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration for Vocations.
Throughout National Vocations Awareness Week, participants are invited to spend time in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament, praying for an increase in vocations to the priesthood, religious life, marriage and the dedicated single life, while also taking time to listen to God’s call in their own lives.
Everyone is warmly invited to come and pray for an hour.
Participating parishes comprise Glendalough, Greenwood and Pater Noster (Blessed Sacrament Chapel), Myaree.
Women’s Discernment Retreat Day
As an extension of National Vocations Awareness Week, women are invited to attend the Women’s Discernment Retreat Day on Saturday 15 August at Trinity College.
The first of its kind in many years, the retreat offers a peaceful day of prayer, reflection and conversation with inspiring women who will share their own journeys of faith and discernment.
Participants will have the opportunity to explore where God may be leading them while connecting with other young women seeking to deepen their relationship with Christ.

Perth Vocations Director Fr Joseph Laundy said National Vocations Awareness Week is an invitation for everyone to reflect on the unique calling God has placed on their lives.
“A vocation is much more than choosing a career or a particular path in life. It’s discovering the person God created you to be and responding to His invitation with generosity,” he said.
“This year we’ve created even more opportunities for people to explore that journey. We can’t wait to see you there.”
The 2026 program also includes the annual National Vocations Awareness Week Opening Mass – 11am, St Mary’s Cathedral, Sunday 2August, celebrated by Bishop Nelson Po; Vocations @ Common Ground with Catholic Youth Ministry; and Vocations Sports Day, providing a myriad of opportunities for prayer, fellowship and community throughout the week.
