Victoria Park Parish have celebrated the Birthday of the Virgin Mary with a Mass on 7 September.

The very spiritually uplifting Mass was celebrated by Geraldton Emeritus Bishop Justin Bianchini and concelebrated by Parish Priest Msgr Thomas MacDonald.

For 48-hours prior to the Mass, Catholics across WA and around the world prayed the Rosary as a gift to offer Mary on her birthday.

A scroll containing the names of all those who had committed to pray the Rosary for Mary, was presented to Bishop Emeritus Bianchini by founder and driving force of the 48 Hour Rosary Bouquet Margaret Bowen, and Vice President of the Legion of Mary, Comitium of Perth, Christyne Williams.

On this occasion, they were offering the 36th scroll which was placed before a statue of Mary.

From a small movement in Northam in 1989, this has grown to be an annual event involving over 2,000 hours of prayers by people from WA, Victoria, Philippines, Fiji and India.

It is now coordinated by the Legion of Mary who would like to thank everyone who participated in this gift tradition, and we look forward to undertaking this again in 2025.
